About the role:

An exciting opportunity to join Box Hill Institute as our Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Support Teacher!

As the LLN Support Teacher, you will provide high quality and innovative course materials and excellent teaching delivery to Foundation Studies students, to:

  • support student success in LLN Support programs and thereby improve their employment and/or educational pathways
  • ensure BHI compliance requirements are met

The Teacher – LLN Support is one of several positions in the Microcredentials, ACFE, Reconnect and LN Support unit in the Foundation Education College. The position reports to the Manager - Microcredentials, ACFE, Reconnect andLN Support and is responsible for liaising with students, relevant industry groups, community services providers, overseas partners and employees of BHI at all levels.

The Microcredentials, ACFE, Reconnect and LN Support unit, as part of the Foundation Education College, provides pre-accredited programs; foundation programs such as learner support, Microcredentials and case management support through the Reconnect Program.

Our courses provide pathways into further education and employment, and help to increase life and employability skills. Full-time, part-time, on-campus, blended, work-based and online delivery options exist to suit the needs of our students and industry partners.


About You:

  • A recognised and accredited Adult Language and/or Numeracy and Literacy teaching qualification at AQF7 or above and relevant vocational competencies to demonstrate expertise in teaching literacy and numeracy
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) or a qualification at diploma level or higher in Adult Education
  • Desirable: eligible for/or current VIT Registration
  • Experience in planning and researching for the preparation of programs and learning materials, in the identification of setting standards, and well developed skills in transferring knowledge including the ability to research, select, and use a wide range of learning resources and assessment tools that would ensure a successful training program
  • Current and sound knowledge of and experience in the Education Industry, specifically in language, literacy and numeracy. Mathematics specialist (for numeracy) and in the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF)
     
  • Demonstrated ability to develop a range of complex documents that comply with

all relevant quality standards, including course materials, unit plans and assessment tools
 

  • Demonstrated proficiency and capability student management systems for attendance tracking, retrieval of student details where required, and resulting
  • Ability or the capacity to work and provide support and advice to students and BHI Group employees of diverse cultures, backgrounds and abilities, including effective communication, interpersonal, and coordination skills relevant to a learning environment. Ability to quickly develop rapport and positive working relations with colleagues from a range of social and cultural backgrounds
