The Institutional domain will deliver full end-to-end world class products and services to our global Institutional, Corporate and Commercial and Retail customers across Asia. It will incorporate capabilities across areas of Investment Banking, Trading and Sales, Cash Management, Wholesale Lending and Trade Finance.

The Institutional domain will enable our Institutional business partners and customers through providing stable, scalable, innovative and leading technology platforms and solutions which focus on great customer and banker experience, operational excellence and future ready technology - aligning focus on business strategic outcomes and high value technology practices

We have a career opportunity based in Melbourne for an Engineer to step into our existing Mercury Team. This team is responsible for supporting and developing the CRM Platform for ANZ Institutional. The team’s mission is to be ANZ Institutional’s single CRM repository, which is available to bankers across multiple devices (Desktop and Mobile).

What will be in your toolkit?
  • Strong development background with several years of experience. Preferably with packaged applications
  • Exposure to 3 tier architecture with knowledge of WebSphere, IIS, Windows Server etc.
  • Exposure to utilising functional languages to script customisations (e.g. utilising Scheme)
  • Experience with SQL Server or Oracle, e.g. ability to write queries to produce business reports and understanding of what constitutes a performant database structure.
  • Experience with code versioning tools (Git, SVN, Mercurial) and Build Automation tooling (Bamboo, Jenkins, TeamCity, etc.).
  • Experience working in an Agile environment with experience in the Atlassian suite e.g. JIRA, Confluence.
  • Exposure to performance monitoring tools (Dynatrace, Splunk, CA APM, New Relic).
  • Demonstrated experience in rapidly picking up new technologies and troubleshooting issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand business requirements and translate them to technical stories.
  • Will need to work occasional weekends for implementation support with time in lieu given.
  • Banking experience would be beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Experience with web based applications including iOS/Android mobile devices is also desirable but not mandatory.

 

What might a day in the life look like?

  • Produce development outputs that are of high quality and meet business and customer expectations.
  • Work collaboratively with the business and technology partners to design solutions that can meet current and future business/customer needs.
  • Provide technical input into strategic plans for technology products and services to improve the capability, quality and performance of systems.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve software development processes and tools with the aim of reducing development effort and duration and creating best practise approaches to development.
  • Enables continuous delivery practices to increase delivery speed.
  • Participation in agile ceremonies (sprint planning, story estimation, retrospectives, etc.).
  • Works in collaborative teams to build innovative solutions.
  • Implements a culture within the Tech Area and the Chapter, encouraging best practices around reviews, quality and documentation.
