About the job
We are seeking a Database Administrator and a Senior Database Administrator to join Swinburne’s Application Services team.

Based in our Application Services team, our Database Administrators and Senior Database Administrators manage Swinburne University’s Oracle and SQL Server databases and associated applications, under the direction of the Database Lead. You will take a proactive approach to the prevention of system failure, securing the database and application to prevent unauthorised access or system compromise and the planning and testing of disaster recovery measures and plans.

You will have the drive to continuously improve service delivery, working collaboratively with IT support teams to optimize efficiency of incident resolution and problem management. You will be responsible for driving a high standard of customer service and working with stakeholders to ensure recognition of, and responsiveness to, the needs of internal and external clients.

Our Application Services team focuses on integrating systems to support business processes and provide data between the many applications used by the University. Numerous application delivery approaches are taken, with examples of Software as a Service, Platform as a Service, in-house hosted third party systems and in-house developments. The role is required to establish strong partnerships with stakeholders and colleagues to develop and implement significant improvements for Student Administration, Digital Marketing, Learning, Teaching, Research and Corporate functions.

About you
To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • A relevant computing or related degree or formal certifications in Oracle or SQL
  • Extensive experience and database and applications management expertise
  • Considerable experience in the management of Oracle database systems in a Linux environment
  • Experience in the creation, testing and execution of Disaster Recovery processes for applications and databases
