About the job
The Payroll Team Leader is a newly created position sitting within the People & Culture Services Department and will be accountable for overseeing the Payroll processing and Workday transactional team. The Payroll team Leader role will report directly to the Payroll Manager and is intended to provide effective, accurate and efficient services to Swinburne University. This will include the development and maintenance of best practice payroll and reporting processes and procedures with a focus on upholding legislative compliance and requirements.

Critical to this role is maintaining the current payroll system in readiness for the implemention of Workday HRIS and iChris payroll systems to ensure a high standard of data integrity for the purposes of reporting and data analysis. This role will work with a variety of teams to ensure a high level of service is delivered by the People & Culture function and will play an integral role in the uplift in capability of the Payroll team and function as a whole.

About you
To be successful in the role, you will have:
• Demonstrated experience working on HR Systems transformation projects including the implementation of new payroll systems or HR systems such as Workday. Exposure to iChris is also highly desirable.
• Knowledge of financial and audit requirements, particularly in their application to payroll operations
• A thorough working knowledge and understanding of Human Resource principles practices and operational activities
