About the Jobs
At Swinburne’s School of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities, we are pleased to invite applications for two senior leadership roles in the school. Currently, we are seeking two key Department Chair positions from 2020 – one to lead the Department of Film and Animation and one to lead the Department of Media and Communication. The two positions will provide opportunities to strengthen current links and to develop new collaborations between the departments and across the broader University.

The two Chairs will have key roles in leading and further developing two successful departments. Successful candidates will bring leadership experiences and research expertise that contributes to the Australian fields of research codes 1902 (Film, Television and Digital Media), and FoR 2001 (Communication and Media Studies) – both ranked Above World Standard in the recent 2018 Excellence in Research assessment. Swinburne University also performed well in Australian FoR 1904 (Performing Arts and Creative Writing).

We encourage applicants who share our passion for leadership and research. The appointees will work in a diverse school located at Hawthorn campus, encompassing four Departments (Media and Communication; Film and Animation; Social Sciences; and Education) and two research Centres (Centre for Transformative Media Technologies and Centre for Urban Transitions).

Both positions are three-year appointments with the possibility of renewal and are supported by an underpinning, ongoing, substantive Professorial position at Level E.
