Foyer Central is Uniting’s bold new social impact investment that demonstrates our ongoing commitment to providing innovative and evidence based programs.

All young people deserve a place to call home and Foyer Central will provide an opportunity for young people with a care history to live independently with on-site support in a purpose-built environment designed to promote a connected, vibrant and creative community.

This project is the vision of a group of partner organisations working in collaboration that believe offering young people real life opportunities in education and employment with coaching and mentoring support enables young people to create sustainable futures for themselves.

We’re looking for an exceptional leader that shares our vision of a better future for care leavers to assume operational responsibility as the Manager for this exciting project. The Manager will be a highly visible leadership role and will require excellent communication skills. The Manager will be able to skilfully engage young people as effectively as external partners. The Manager will thrive on developing partnerships and working collaboratively across the sector for the success of the program.

Join our passionate project team as the Manager of Foyer Central and lead the project now and into the future as it goes live in central Sydney in early 2021.

The details

As the Manager you will provide oversight of the Uniting team and ensure that all operational systems are efficient and effective to enable support provision to occur and outcomes to be achieved. You will lead quality practice through a structured coaching and mentoring framework that enables young people to be at the centre of decision making.

You will work strategically and collaboratively with key service delivery partners and external stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of the program and will provide a critical link to both internal and external governance of the project.


In this full-time position you will lead, manage, monitor and improve Foyer Central to ensure that the program continues to be responsive to young people. Every day will be different as you lead this new program from development to the implementation of full-time service delivery. You will:

Position Specific Responsibilities:

  • Support all aspects of the implementation of Foyer Central during the critical development phase prior to service delivery commencement
  • Recruit the Foyer Central team and provide leadership, supervision and Advantage Thinking based practice leadership to all staff focused on delivering quality service
  • Work collaboratively with Foyer Central partners and external stakeholders including Dept Communities and Justice, SVA, OSSI, City of Sydney, philanthropic donors, corporate sponsors and key education/employment providers.
  • Implement the contract requirements and lead the performance of the program against accreditation standards
  • Provide leadership for Foyer Central across all aspects of communications
  • Oversight of risk and safety assessment and management planning
  • Ensure high quality client data collection, monitoring and reporting
  • Oversee and participate in the after-hours emergency roster for Foyer Central

About You

The Manager will be an innovative and inspiring leader with exceptional communication skills who is passionate about young people and works collaboratively with others.


Qualifications:
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in the Social Sciences and experience in managing SHS, PSP, Youth or related program type.


Your experience ticks the following boxes:
  • Substantial experience in leadership within homelessness/housing, PSP, Youth or related field and a sound understanding of the issues faced by young people leaving the care system
  • Demonstrated commitment and passion for working with young people
  • Demonstrated ability to translate identified needs into responsive outcome focused services
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective partnerships to deliver quality programs
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, plan, and evaluate projects and services
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management skills and the ability to develop motivated, cohesive and effective work teams
  • Demonstrated skills in program management including;
               - Quality assurance and continuous improvement
               - Risk management
               - Finance and physical resource management
               - Administration, client information management, data and reporting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Current NSW Driver’s Licence, WWCC and NCHC
  • Experience in trauma informed practice and strengths-based approaches
