The Australia Business Transformation (ABT) Legal Group is looking for people who are passionate about transformational change and doing great things for our customers, to help us redefine banking for the future. Your key accountabilities in this role will include:

• Providing high quality legal service to ABT and Deputy General Counsel, ABT, including the provision of strategic and proactive legal advice and innovative and practical solutions to assist in meeting business objectives.
• Seeking continuous improvement in terms of quality, efficiency and risk management, to save time and cost without inappropriately increasing risk, and managing personal expenses appropriately and in accordance with policy.
• Ensuring a collaborative approach to dealings within the ABT Legal Group, the Australia Legal Group and the wider ANZ Legal Group.
• Delivering well managed individual performance against agreed metrics.
• Ensuring legal risks are minimised by remaining up to date with new legislative developments (including global trends) which have the potential to impact value streams within ABT.
• Seeking continuous professional improvement by implementing professional growth and development strategies; developing and growing specialist capabilities; and fostering access to expertise via business relations.

To grow and be successful in this role, you’ll bring the following:

• Law Degree and admission to practice in Victoria, Australia.
• Extensive post qualification experience from either:

• a top tier Australian firm (or equivalent foreign firm) or

• equivalent in-house corporate environment with experience in banking and retail financial services law (strongly preferred).

• Recognised excellent communication skills, client focus and stakeholder relationships; as well as problem solving and decision making abilities.
• Demonstrated extensive experience in provision of technically accurate and commercially astute legal advice and proactively influencing outcomes.
• Proven collaboration track record with a positive attitude demonstrated, role modelling and promoting ANZ Values and our aspirational culture.
• Leverage your in-depth understanding and experience in the legal industry to provide practical and user-friendly legal advice
• Well rounded knowledge to draw upon and apply to complex problems in a fast paced environment
