About the role

As a Research & Innovation Advisor at RMIT Barcelona, you will play a key role in implementing targeted strategies and initiatives supporting capacity building of RMIT academics for participation in European and international funding programmes. This role will see you provide high quality expert support to RMIT academics in the development and submission of competitive European and International research grant proposals. In addition you will actively identify, select and recognize viable collaboration opportunities and scout and pursue funding to implement them in line with RMIT’s strategic research priorities.

You will support the implementation of funded grants, and leverage your technical background and established professional networks to add value to RMIT’s participation in publicly funded projects, to develop new collaborations between RMIT (Australia, Vietnam and Spain) and European research partners.

In addition, this role will see you identify and build relationships with partners and develop detailed knowledge of different mechanisms to support such collaborations, including European, international and national funding schemes and direct collaboration agreements for joint PhDs and contract research.

Two important areas of focus:

  • Horizon Europe Marie Sk?odowska-Curie schemes (Cofund, Doctoral Networks, RISE)
  • International Development grants and tenders for which Vietnam is eligible

Experience in either or both of these areas will be highly valued.

About you

To be successful in this position, you’ll demonstrate the following:

  • Strong academic or technical expertise in a field of strategic focus for RMIT (refer to RMIT research capabilities);
  • Experience in engaging with external stakeholders and building strong collaborative relationships, along with the ability to identify strategic collaboration opportunities and develop viable mechanisms to support them;
  • Experience in leading or supporting the development of proposals for a variety of funding schemes (in particular H2020, Marie Sk?odowska-Curie actions, international development tenders);
  • Ability to review and critique a wide range of funding agreements, and to provide clear, concise feedback and advice to stakeholders.

Qualifications and requirements

Essential:

  • A tertiary qualification with relevant work experience;
  • Fluency in English (both written and oral);
  • Eligible to legally work in the European Union.

Desirable:

  • PhD qualification or other experience in an academic environment
  • Experience, existing network or a keen interest in one or several of the following research areas (please also refer to RMIT’s research capabilities)
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Australian tertiary sector
  • Experience in the development of International Development grants or Marie Curie programmes
