About the College

The STEM College holds a leading position and expertise in the science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and health (STEM) fields. We are uniquely positioned to influence and partner with industry, as never before. STEM College is a community of exceptional STEM researchers, teachers, inventors, designers and gamechangers, supported by talented professional staff. We offer higher education programs across all STEM disciplines at the Bachelor, Master and PhD levels, and ensure our students experience an education that is work-aligned and life-changing. 

STEM College employs 1,000 staff who deliver onshore and offshore programs to approximately 20,000 students. 

About You

Reporting to Helen McPartlan (Associate Director, WIL & Engagement), you will provide high-level strategic advice and leadership on Industry and student engagement within the STEM College. Working collaboratively with other members of the Work Integrated Learning (WIL) and Engagement Team, you will develop Industry and student engagement strategies that are co-designed with our academic stakeholders and that meet the needs of our Programs of study. Leading your team, you will drive the strategic creation of bespoke relationships with industry partners to realise these plans.

You will also be responsible for all Engagement reporting to support decision-making by College senior staff. You will develop internal processes using enterprise-wide systems to monitor and report of engagement activities. The WIL & Engagement team currently provide placements to 9,000 students but will be working towards increasing this to 15,000 by the end of 2021, giving every student the opportunity for a WIL placement.

To be successful in this position, you’ll have, but not limited to:

• Extensive experience facilitating Industry Engagement with an emphasis on Work Integrated Learning as it relates to the College’s activities.
• Excellent communication, relationship building and negotiation skills with the ability to work collegiately with academic and professional staff, students, and external clients from diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, develop and manage a team with on operational focus to deliver a high level of customer service in a client-focused environment.
• Extensive experience in developing and enacting strategic business plans.
• A background in STEM is ideal, but not essential.
